HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOAM CUTTING MACHINE?

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOAM CUTTING MACHINE?

Talking about foam, we will think of many kinds of products——-EPS foam, PU foam, EPE foam, XPS foam, etc. All of these products are called “foam products”. Some people don’t know this, so they come up with some problems in looking for the right type of machine.

To cut different foam products, we need different types of  FOAM cutting machines. To cut EPE foam and XPS foam sheets, it is knife-cutting, however, if you want to cut EPS products, you will have to use “hot-wire cutting”.

And to cut different density of foam material, there are saw blade, band knife, and abrasive wire blade. We use oscillating saw blade to cut flexible sponge, use band knife to cut soft and semi-rigid foam material, and use abrasive wire to cut the rigid foam material.

The last thing is the shape of your foam product. If your foam product is in cuboid shape, then you could use horizontal blade or vertical blade to cut lengthwise and crosswise. And if your product is in 3D shape with curve lines or zigzag outlines, then we would add special swivel to turn the blade cutting way.

For mattress, it is soft and flexible sponge, normally Polyurethane foam. We would recommend the Horizontal Band Blade Cutting Machine to slice sponge block into sheets. Then use the Vertical Band Blade Cutting Machine to cut off the edges.

But if you are going to make pillows or sound-absorbing wall panel which has curve outline, we would recommend you to use the Revolving Blade Cutting Machine which would turn the blade into different way during the cutting process.

If you are using EPS foam blocks to engrave and make them into typography for advertising, or even sometimes for installation art display, then you need a hot wire cutting machine, which applies a heated wire to melt the EPS foam into complex shapes, letters or cartoon characters. Some people might have seen videos on Youtube showing how this hot wire cutter can be made. But in our industrial process, we have bigger one, which is much more efficient and high productivity.
